Reasons for deformation of U-shaped bent sidewalls during stamping

When the U-bend is punched, the side wall rebounds with respect to the bottom surface of the workpiece, and the side wall surface becomes uneven. The bulge is raised near the corner radius of the punch, and the center of the side wall is convex inward. L-shaped bends can also produce the same phenomenon.

The reason why the U-shaped bent sidewall of the precision stamping is deformed is because the gap between the punch and the die is too large, so that the sheet and the punch cannot be bonded during processing. And in the later stages of processing, springback occurs near the rounded corners of the punch and the upper portion of the wall.
