Why do precision stampings need to be plated?

Electroplating refers to a process in which a single metal ion or a complex ion is electrochemically reduced on a surface of a precision stamped part to a metal atom attached to the surface of the electrode to obtain a metal layer.
Electroplating can change the surface characteristics of the workpiece, also change the appearance color, improve corrosion resistance, wear resistance, enhance hardness, and provide special surface properties such as light, electricity, magnetism and heat.

There are two main reasons for the plating of precision metal stamping parts: to protect the workpiece substrate from corrosion; to optimize the surface properties of the workpiece, it is easier to achieve metal-to-metal contact.
