Surface cleaning for forging production,forging

Sometimes, in order to reduce the wear of the mold, to prevent the scale from being pressed into the forging, or to prevent the existing surface defects from continuing to expand during the forging, the raw materials and the intermediate blanks are also cleaned.
(1) Air shovel cleaning;
(2) Grinding wheel cleaning
(3) Flame cleaning.
The groove on the surface of the workpiece after cleaning should be smooth, and the aspect ratio of the groove should be greater than 5.
There are three ways to clean the hot billet before forging:
(1) Tool removal. Use a wire brush. A method of removing scale by tools such as a scraper and a scraper.
(2) The blanking process is removed. When the hammer is forged, the billet step can be used to remove the oxide scale of a part of the hot billet.
(3) High pressure water cleaning. Will heat the blank. The high-pressure water jetting device is rapidly passed through the high-pressure water jetting device at a rate of 0.2 to 0.5 m/s to spray high-pressure water of 15 to 20 MPa from the periphery to the billet. The oxide scale on the surface of the billet is sharply shrunk and cracked, and is quickly washed away by high pressure water. Since the process time is short, the temperature of the billet itself is rarely reduced, the cleaning effect is good, and the efficiency is high.
Oxidation on forgings after forging or after heat treatment after forging or heat treatment There are four cleaning methods widely used in production: drum cleaning, sandblasting, shot blasting and pickling.
(1) Sandblasting (pill) cleaning
Sandblasting or shot peening is powered by compressed air. The working pressure of sand blasting is 0 2 ~ 0.3MPa, the working pressure of shot peening is 0.5 ~ 0.6MPa, the quartz sand with particles of 15 ~ 2mm or the steel shot with particles of 0.8 ~ 2mm. Sprayed onto the forging through the nozzle to knock off the scale. Generally speaking, the efficiency is low.
(2) Roller cleaning
The forgings collide or grind against each other in a rotating drum to remove scale and burrs on the workpiece.
(4) pickling cleaning
The pickling solution used for carbon steel and alloy Steel Forgings is sulfuric acid or hydrochloric acid. The removal of the scale depends mainly on the dissolution of the scale itself in the hydrochloric acid solution. The reaction of the base metal with hydrochloric acid is much slower than the reaction of the scale with hydrochloric acid. The effect of pickling and cleaning is good and the efficiency is high. However, it has a greater pollution to the environment.
(3) Shot blasting

The steel shot is thrown onto the forging by the centrifugal force of rotating the impeller at a high speed to remove the scale. Common steel shots contain 0.5% to O. 7%, diameter is 0.8 ~ 2mm. Generally, it is cast steel shot and wire cut. Shot blasting eliminates certain surface stresses and microcracks while knocking down the scale. And can play a strengthening role. For forgings that have been quenched or tempered, the degree of processing enhancement is more pronounced. This method is efficient. The effect is good. The noise is large.
